Landscape Bed Cleanup & Mulching — Bishops Bay, Middleton, WI
This Bishops Bay home in Middleton had foundation beds on three sides of the house that had gotten away from the homeowner. The front bed was a tangle of dead perennials and volunteer growth around the shrubs they wanted to keep, the side bed along the boulder edge had grown into a hedge of weeds against the siding, and the back bed around the spruce had lost its edge to the lawn.
We cleared every bed down to the plants worth keeping — the boxwoods, the mugo pine, and the established shrubs by the entry — and cut back what was left of the perennials. Along the side of the house we pulled the weeds out from the boulder edging and cleaned the strip back to bare soil.
Every bed was re-edged and mulched, with new edging installed where the bed lines had blurred into the turf. Where the lawn along the front had thinned out, we seeded and covered it so it comes back in the spring.
A cleanup like this is the fastest way to bring a landscape back without replacing anything — and it's what makes the mulch, edging, and plantings that are already there look intentional again.
